Why High-BTU Equipment Is Different
Pool heaters and tankless water heaters can pull far more gas than the appliances a typical residential line was sized for — up to the 400,000-BTU class for larger pool heaters and the 199,000-BTU class for high-output tankless units. Connecting equipment like this isn't always as simple as tying into the nearest gas line. We evaluate your existing pipe size, available gas pressure, meter and regulator capacity, and the distance from the gas source to determine whether your current system can support the new load or needs an upgrade.
Adding or Upgrading a Pool Heater
Whether you're installing a pool heater for the first time or replacing an older unit with a higher-BTU model, we check whether your existing gas supply was ever sized for it. Many older systems weren't. Depending on what we find, that can mean a dedicated line, an upgraded regulator, or other piping changes — on natural gas or propane.
Tankless Water Heaters Place Real Demand on Your Gas System
Tankless units fire at a much higher rate than a standard tank water heater to deliver hot water on demand.
